‘I may be small, but I have big things to tell you!’
That was my opening sentence at the German Debating Championships in 2007. My involvement in the debating club and the championship were the big bang of my career.
Rhetoric, presence, communication: these three foundations of debating helped me launch Lilit a year later, on 15 May 2008. Debating teaches you to place coherent arguments within thoughtful structures. Combined with confident delivery and the necessary empathy for others, this gives you a strong chance of winning over the jury—as in 2012, when we reached the World Championships quarter-finals . And as head of personnel for the World Championships it also taught me to grow professionally beyond my limits and lead the team of over 200 people for the ten-day major event.
Strategic empathy—persuasion with Lilit
I may have outgrown our student debating club, butthe right blend of strategy and empathy is still the recipe for persuasion with which I guide my Lilit clients to success. And I’ve been doing so for 9 years now—a reason to celebrate! I thank my clients for their trust, and of course my staff and friends who have accompanied me on this journey. A special greeting goes to Gudrun and Marcel, my debating teammates from back then, whom I met in the debating club!
Today I use debating as inspiration for my work as a keynote speaker, author and—especially—in my executive coaching for brilliant rhetoric.
