For universities, graduate schools and research institutions

Communication training for universities and academia

With my seminars for universities and colleges, you unlock the communicative potential of your doctoral candidates and future postdocs. My training and seminar programme is tailored precisely to the needs of academia.

For all of them, communication is central to success: whether working with students, staff, co-authors or professors. The best ideas prevail – but only if they are heard. With me, your participants learn to overcome the many hurdles that stand in the way of communicating their ideas and scientific findings. Whether it is presenting and pitching convincingly when raising third-party funding or presenting a business plan, networking actively at conferences and meetings, or changing perspective in discussions on gender issues – with me, your people find the right words.

The structure and process of my trainings are tailored individually to your needs. As a former German Debating Champion, I offer you scientifically grounded communication trainings with strategies from practice. With my seminars for universities and colleges, I guide your researchers to their goals in a practical, results-oriented way.

Experience working with graduate programmes and early-career researchers

For many years I have worked with universities, graduate schools and research institutions throughout Germany. In the past, for example, with the Research Training Group GRK2606-ProtPath of the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Cell Research at the University of Freiburg and the equal opportunities offices of the University of Mainz, the Universität Bonn and Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. Also with the medical mentoring programme at the Mainz University Medical Center (MeMentUM, formerly the Edith Heischkel Mentoring Programme – EHMP), researchers and students of the Institute of Political Science at Heidelberg University, doctoral candidates of the Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Umwelt Nürtingen-Geislingen, as well as the Office for Equal Opportunities at the University of Augsburg and many others.

I know the typical formats and contexts in which early-career researchers operate – from structured graduate programmes and equality initiatives to cross-faculty workshop series – and I design my trainings so that they integrate meaningfully into existing programmes.

The formats range from compact workshops to training series lasting several days, supporting participants precisely at the points where communication decides visibility, influence and next career steps.

Not every communicative challenge in academia needs the same format. Sometimes a workshop for doctoral candidates or postdocs makes sense, sometimes coaching before an important appearance, sometimes a training series embedded in an existing programme:

  • Workshops of 2 to 6 hours
  • Keynotes & short talks
  • Individual coaching
  • Multi-day trainings
  • Formats for equality and equity
